NestSigns FAQ

Common questions about nesting sign letters with NestSigns.

What is NestSigns?

NestSigns is nesting software made for sign shops. It packs channel letters, dimensional letters and other sign parts onto as few sheets of acrylic, PVC, aluminum or other material as it can, and exports cut-ready files for a CNC router.

Which file types can I use?

NestSigns opens Adobe Illustrator .ai, PDF, DXF, SVG and CorelDRAW .cdr (X4 and newer). It exports PDF, AI and DXF, plus a layout summary PDF with every part numbered.

Do I need to install anything?

No. NestSigns runs in a web browser on Windows or Mac. You can also install it as a desktop app from the browser.

Does it put small letters inside the holes of bigger letters?

Yes. Small parts are placed inside the counters of letters such as O, A, B and D. Holes that belong to a letter stay with that letter.

Can it use my leftover sheets?

Yes. Keep a list of full sheets and leftover pieces for each material. NestSigns uses the smallest leftovers first, then full sheets, and updates the stock when you mark a job done.

What happens with letters bigger than my sheet?

You can leave them out, divide them to fit the sheet, or divide them with a 1 inch joining strip. Divided pieces are labeled A1, A2 and so on.

How is part spacing set?

Type the spacing you want, or type your router bit diameter and the spacing is set from it. Every layout is checked and shows the smallest spacing measured.

Does it work with CorelDRAW?

Yes. Open the .cdr file (CorelDRAW X4 or newer) directly, or export PDF or DXF from CorelDRAW. NestSigns is a separate web app, not a CorelDRAW plug-in, so it also works with Illustrator and FlexiSIGN files.

How is NestSigns different from eCut or Vectric Aspire?

eCut is a plug-in that adds tools to CorelDRAW, and Vectric Aspire is full CAM software with nesting as one of many features. NestSigns does one job, nesting sign letters, with sign-shop features in one place: parts in letter holes, leftovers first, dividing oversize letters, numbered parts and sheet inventory with material cost. It runs in the browser and works with files from any design program.

How much does it cost?

You get 20 free nesting runs with no credit card. After that it is $14.99 per month with unlimited files, up to 50 runs a day. Cancel anytime.
